Something I learned this week was the subjunctive mood. The subjunctive mood of verb can express a wish or desire or a condition that is contrary to the fact. A tip would be instead of using were, you should use was, instead of would, you should use will. Wish or Desire; a wish or desire would be one of the subjects of the Subjunctive Mood, A wish or desire would be something like, I wish summer were here. Notice how instead of the sentence being, I wish summer was here, the sentence was, I wish summer were here. Instead of being was it was were. Another subject of the subjunctive mood would be Contrary-to-fact, which are hyphenated modifiers. An example of this would be, If I were a better soccer player, I'd would join the team. Notice instead of using was, it was were. Contrary-to-fact can be used to recommend or demand after "that". It can also be used to show uncertainty after the words "if" or "whether". Demand after that, an example would be I must insist that Victor be at the meeting. Recommendation after that, an example would be I recommend that Audrey report or groups conclusion. Uncertainty, an example would be Whether he be right or wrong. Paul is always coming up with ideas.

On Tuesday, May 9, 2017, the director of the FBI, James Comey, was fired by Donald Trump. James Comey was responsible of the case of Hilary Clinton's email sever, but according to CNN, Democrats ridculed that notion, raising parallels to Watergate-era firings and suggested Comey was getting too close to the White House with the Russia Probe. If you don't know who James Comey is, James Comey was the former FBI director for the FBI, or the Federal Bureau of Investigation. People are saying that the reason behind James Comey being fired is because of the Russia probe. According to CNN, James Comey went under fire for his handling of the investigation into Clinton's private email server, may Democrats believe that his announcement that he was reopening the probe 11 days prior to the election, which is believed to cost the former secretary of state, Hilary Clinton, the presidency. Also according to CNN, James Comey learned that he was fired from the news, he made a joke about it to lighten the mood, but later called his office to get confirmation that it was a joke, not a hoax, but sadly they said it was not a hoax and that he was actually fired. One of the people who recommended that James Comey to be fired was Roger Stone, a longtime trump supporter. But according to Donald Trump, that was also a lie and that Roger Stone never recommended that James Comey to be fired, and Donald Trump claimed that he has not spoken to Roger Stone in a long time.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/09/politics/james-comey-fbi-trump-white-out/ This week, I learned about past, present, and future tenses, and the different types of tenses. Past tense express an action or a situation that was started and has finished in the past, anything later would be present or future tense. Most past tense verbs and words end in -ed such as worked, walked, and jogged. Present tense express an unchanging, repeated, or reoccurring action or situation that exists only now, anything later would be future tense and anything earlier would be past tense. Present tense verbs and words include play, eat, and run. Future tense verbs express an action or situation that will occur in the future. the tense is formed by using will/shall with the simple form of the verb. Most future tense verbs will start with will be. Examples of future tense include will be leaving, will be going, and will be eating. Next, there are progressive forms of these tenses, they are past progressive tense, present progressive tense, and future progressive tense. Past progressive tense describes a past action which was happening when another action occurred. This tense if formed by was/were with the verb form ending in -ing. Examples of this tense include, was explaining, was eating, and was walking. Next is present progressive tense, present progressive tense describes an ongoing action that is happening at the same time the statement is written. This tense is formed by using am/is/are with the verb form ending in -ing. Examples of this verb include is examining, is eating, is walking.
http://leo.stcloudstate.edu/grammar/tenses.html Linking Verbs are verbs that show relationships between the subject and the subject complement of the sentence and a noun or adjective being linked to it. For example, My dog is an Akita. The linking verb would be is because dog and Akita are the same thing, they are related to a dog. Linking verbs are commonly found with the forms of to be such as accelerated, accomplished, acquired, achieved, adapted, administered, advised, allocated, analyzed, anticipated, applied, approved, arranged, articulated, assembled, assessed, assigned, authored, balanced, briefed, budgeted, built , cataloged , chaired, clarified, collaborated, compared, compiled, and many more. Linking verbs also do not express action, but instead connect the subject of the verb to additional information about the subject. To tell when action verbs are linking verbs, you can substitute am, is, or are and the sentence still sounds logical. If the sentence does not make sense when you add am, is, or are, that verb is not a linking verb, that verb is an action verb. Linking verbs can be in all forms such as to be, to appear, to become, to feel, to look ,to seem, to smell, to sound, to taste
http://www.grammar-monster.com/glossary/linking_verbs.htm On March 22, 2017, there was a terrorist attack in London. The total destruction of this terrorist attack lead to four people being killed and many more injured due to the attacker driving into a crowd of people and stabbing a police officer. He was later shot dead by armed officers. This was the first mass-casualty terrorist attack since 2005 when 52 people died when four attackers planted bombs on July 7. During this attack, there is a Ferris wheel called the London Eye where people were trapped during this event and they did not know that it was a terrorist attack. Though frightful they managed to get off the Ferris wheel without any harm. There was also a Romanian couple there, te man was planning to propose to her at the end of the night, but she was hit by the car and thrown into the icy water. She is still in a coma in the hospital waiting to wake up from this bad dream. Many eyewitnesses say that they saw a black car speeding across the road eventually running into a crowd and then a wall. They also thought that it was just another accident until they saw a man coming out of the car hurting people and killing an officer. Then they heard the news that the police has been called with heavy forces and that's when the climax of the situation occurred when the streets were filled of people running from the scene.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/22/europe/uk-parliament-firearms-incident/ Something I learned this week are transitive verbs and intransitive verbs. An intransitive verb is an action verb such as arrive, go, lie, sneeze, sit, and die. An intransitive verb is not like a transitive verb that has a direct object that will be receiving the action. An example would be James went to the campus cafe for a steaming ball of squid eyeball stew. The intransitive verb would be went because went is an action verb and nothing is receiving the action. Verbs can be both transitive and intransitive. A transitive verb contrasts with an intransitive verb. An intransitive verb cannot have a direct object. A transitive verb is a verb that can take a direct object. Also, it is done to someone or something, most verbs are intransitive. For example, She played the piano. Played is the transitive verb and the piano is the direct object. Another example would be He read a book, read would be the transitive verb and book would be receiving the verb. The direct object can be found when you find the verb and ask what or whom. If there is nothing that can be answered with what or whom, that verb is most likely intransitive.
http://www.grammar-monster.com/glossary/transitive_verbs.htm On Wednesday March 8, 2017, a 14-year-old boy Danish Boy was doing some research for his history class when he found the wreckage of a World War II plane that supposedly crashed and inside that plane there were the remains of the pilot that was found in the cockpit. The boy who had found the plane was named Daniel Kristiansen along with his father Klaus Kristiansen discovered the plane that was believed to be a Messerschmitt fighter plane that was buried underground on their farm near Birkelse in Northern Denmark. According to Klaus Kristiansen, he told CNN that they went out on the field with a metal detector, he had hoped that they would find some old plates or something that his son, Daniel could show in school. Instead of finding old plates or something his son could show to school, they found bits of plane debris. The borrowed an excavator from his neighbor and they dug down seven to eight meters. Not only did they find plane debris every time they dug up a chunk of dirt, they also found pieces of bones and many pieces of ripped clothes. He described it as opening a book from yesterday. They both remembered being told by his grandparents that there was a plane that had crashed during WWII. They believed it as a wonderful story not knowing that it was actually real. They finally believed him after they had found all the debris. His grandfather said that it was November or December 1944.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/08/europe/denmark-wwii-plane-trnd/ Something that I learned this week was about my poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Henry Longfellow was born on February 27, 1807 in Portland, Maine located in the U.S. He is mostly known for being the author of "Paul Revere's Ride" and "The Song of Hiawatha." Not only was he known for his poems, but he was also known as the first American to translate "Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy." He was also one of the five poets that were part of the "Fireside poets." The Fireside Poets consisted of Henry Longfellow, William Bryant, John Whittier, James Lowell, and Oliver Holmes Sr. At the time he was born, Maine was part of Massachusetts. He studied at Bowdoin and later became a teacher there. In the future, he would leave that job and decide to become a professor at Harvard College. His first major poem was "Voices of the Night" which was made in 1839 and "Ballards and Other Poems" in 1841. Longfellow had the choice to make to either be a poet or a professor. He later chose to become a poet and retired from his job as being a professor in 1854. As a professor, he lived in a house that was formerly built as the Revolutionary Headquarters of George Washington. While at that house, his first wife, Mary Potter, died in 1835 after a miscarriage.
https://www.poets.org/poetsorg/poet/henry-wadsworth-longfellow Earlier this week we learned about Ethos, Pathos, Logos. Ethos, Pathos, and Logos are used for persuasion and used to convince audience members. Ethos, also known as ethical appeal, is used to convince a person or an audience to do something in the favor of the narrator or author. The word Ethos is a Greek word that means "character." The word "ethic" is derived from ethos. Ethos is developed when the appropriate language is chosen for the audience and topic which also means that you need to choose the proper level of vocabulary. A strategy of Ethos is that you should make yourself sound fair or unbiased and by using correct grammar to persuade your audience or investor or whoever you are trying to persuade your argument to. Pathos is mostly used to persuade the audience by playing with their feelings such as making a sad documentary or video, or a funny video, whatever you make makes someone or people change their mood. Authors use pathos to inject a feeling of sympathy to your audience, your people you are projecting your project to or your argument. A use of pathos could draw pity to an audience for a donation to children in need, or a backstory to a death of someone, or someone who overcame a sickness such as cancer. Pathos is the Greek word for suffering and experience. Both the words empathy and pathetic are derived from the word Pathos
http://pathosethoslogos.com/ On February 9, 2017, located in a Judean cliff side was a cave. This cave was not just an ordinary one, just like the 11 others found before hand, before 2017, there was another found, filled with large scroll storage jars and other antiquities, it was the first discovery in over 60 years. Many scientists believed that the Dead Sea Scrolls were only found in specific caves in the Qumran mountains, which were managed by Israel in the West Bank. Not only were broken storage jars and their broken lids found within the cave, there were flint tools and arrowheads which are believed to be from the Neolithic time period that were littered the cave's front entrance, looking deeper into the cave there has seemed to be a cave-in. After some time breaking down the cave-in, a team found an unbroken storage jar with a scroll inside. According to CNN, that scroll was rushed to Hebrew University's conservation lab where it was unfurled in a protected environment. Later the findings from the scroll was that there was nothing written on the scroll, scientists believe that the scroll was just placed in the jar for future writing
